There are over 1000 allusions, parallels, and quotes from the Old Testament in the book of Revelation. Some of these can be more readily seen when comparing the Greek of Revelation with the Greek translation of the Old Testament, known as the Septuagint, or simply labeled as LXX. [4] The man said to me, “Son of man, see with your eyes, and hear with your ears, and set your heart on all that I will show you; for you have been brought here so that I may show them to you. [18] The pavement was by the side of the gates, corresponding to the length of the gates, even the lower pavement. [19] Then he measured the width from the forefront of the lower gate to the forefront of the inner court outside, one hundred cubits, both on the east and on the north. [20] He measured the length and width of the gate of the outer court which faces toward the north. |

[23] Pharaoh turned and went into his house, and he didn’t even take this to heart. [24] All the Egyptians dug around the river for water to drink; for they couldn’t drink the river water. [25] Seven days were fulfilled, after Yahweh had struck the river.; I Kings 17:1 Elijah the Tishbite, who was one of the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As Yahweh, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.”; Exodus 7:3, 7, 8, 21 I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt. [7] Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron eighty-three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh. [8] Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, [21] The fish that were in the river died. The river became foul. The Egyptians couldn’t drink water from the river. The blood was throughout all the land of Egypt. |

[19] Yet she multiplied her prostitution, remembering the days of her youth, in which she had played the prostitute in the land of Egypt. You have guided them in your strength to your holy habitation. [14] The peoples have heard. They tremble. Pangs have taken hold of the inhabitants of Philistia. [15] Then the chiefs of Edom were dismayed. Trembling takes hold of the mighty men of Moab. All the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away. [16] Terror and dread falls on them. By the greatness of your arm they are as still as a stone, until your people pass over, Yahweh, until the people you have purchased pass over. [17] You will bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of your inheritance, the place, Yahweh, which you have made for yourself to dwell in; the sanctuary, Lord, which your hands have established. [22] The magicians of Egypt did the same thing with their enchantments. So Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he didn’t listen to them, as Yahweh had spoken. [23] Pharaoh turned and went into his house, and he didn’t even take this to heart. [24] All the Egyptians dug around the river for water to drink; for they couldn’t drink the river water. [25] Seven days were fulfilled, after Yahweh had struck the river. |

Yahweh rained hail on the land of Egypt. [24] So there was very severe hail, and lightning mixed with the hail, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. [25] The hail struck throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and animal; and the hail struck every herb of the field, and broke every tree of the field. |
